This project is designed to address peace and the Universal Heart. My first cast of a sheep heart came from a biology dissection class in 2000. At first I was fascinated by the power of the mechanics of the heart.  Then I began casting them in wax and became transfixed by the diversity of the hearts. Each casting created a unique heart even when I used similar wax. My heart sculptures act as a double-edged sword that remind us of blows to the heart with bullets embedded and the losses from war yet each heart reflects the truth each of us lives day to day. The work offers perspectives on how our hearts are central to the ways that we live in the world, the ways we relate to one another, and the places we identify as “home.”
